Sunfruits have shared their latest single Mushroom Kingdom via Sydney label Third Eye Stimuli Records, with a 7″ vinyl release in the works. Bathing in jangly, funk-laden psychedelia, Mushroom Kingdom is a colourful, sweltering and utterly joyous carousel ride. The groove-based new single bends genre tags left to right in a tight-knit three minute sonic storm.
You may have caught the Australian outfit kicking off the Interstellar Food Drive Festival recently, Hard Of Hearing was a promotional partner for the charity fundraiser, the quartet performing their psych-disco jams live from a sun-scorched porch in Melbourne. The quartet’s latest output is reminiscent of Australian contemporaries Bananagun or Babe Rainbow with a little dose of psychedelic-funk party king, King Khan. Mushroom Kingdom is the latest release since Sunfruits’ debut EP Certified Organic, released in February 2020. Join the revolution, all hail Sunfruits!
