Hailed as a union of Goat Girl and Lily Allen, Ellie Bleach shares her fourth single ‘He Bought Me Nikes’ calling on inspiration from ‘easy listening’ 70s pop. Her new release leans towards a sense of baroque pop with a piano-led sound and a combination of mellotron and choral layers.
Talking about the new release, Bleach explains “’He Bought Me Nikes’ is about a type of guy that I’ve encountered time and time again with a God complex that leaves them totally aloof and detached from anyone that tries to get close to them”. Evocative lyrical storytelling and wistful pop hooks are commonplace in Bleach’s releases, landing her support slots with the likes of Kate Nash and Brad Stank.
