The Austrian outfit delve deeper into a universe of AI-led electronica.
NEW MUSIC | LUCY DREAMS | WORDS BY MICHEAL GARCIA
Whether Lucy as an AI was created as a way to express life’s injustices and inequality, or whether the coupling of analogue and digital sound effects forced through a computer system by Austrian producers dp caused an intergalactic combustion, we may never know.
What we do know is, ‘Know My Number’ by Vienna outfit Lucy Dreams searches for identity, human understanding and a coming together of society worldwide. Grand plans you may say, for an Artificial Intelligence named Lucy who seemingly exists somewhere between 0 and 1. Lucy Dreams offer a new concept of audio creation and lyricism that aims to shed light on society’s thirst for self-destruction.
‘Know My Number’ is led by a rubbery bass groove and sharp-edged synthesizers, drums crash like shutter doors as vocals soar and warp into a chorus of lyrical exploration. Lucy Dreams’ new single picks up where sonically Daft Punk’s 2001 album ‘Discovery’ left off, but where the French electro titans sold house beats and groove, Lucy Dreams lean strongly on a cohesive societal message and a buoyant, pop sensibility.
Their latest release is just over two weeks old and has amassed over 30,000 streams on Spotify and currently sits at #05 in the Austrian charts, listen here.
