Cavernzz step out of the shadows with ‘Art Money’.

The Milton Keynes artist returns with a lo fi “loner pop” gem.

PREMIERE | CAVERNZZ | WORDS BY KARL JOHNSON

After a two year hiatus Cavernzz, aka Milton Keynes songwriter Luke Bolitho, returns with the first taste of his upcoming sophomore album on Warm Laundry Records. ‘Art Money’ is cut from the self-titled record set to be released later this year.

‘Art Money’ further explores the intricate and minimalist sound structures which made up Cavernzz’ 2018 debut LP ‘Nothing Left’, but this time experiments with flashes of dark and off-kilter electronica. The project’s downbeat and downtempo approach echos the output of 90’s Minnesota outfit Low, who’s introspective lyrics and ice cold atmosphere defined the genre of slowcore for many. Sink into the works of Scottish band Arab Strap for further comparison.

On the new single, Cavernzz patiently builds the track with a spellbinding vocal delivery, the repetition acts as a cyclone of sound, slurring it’s thought process whilst succumbing to the warped instrumental textures that surrounds it. ‘Art Money’ oozes frustration, loss and opportunity through the cold eyes of reality.

‘Art Money’ is out tomorrow May 29th via Warm Laundry Records.
