New York City’s The Wants share driving new track ‘The Motor’ ahead of their debut album release.
My nerves are always on red alert when listening to The Wants such is the sense of occasion when they release new material. It’s the anxiety-inducing synths in cahoots with those hypnotic guitar lines. Yet again, with new single ‘Motor’, the New Yorkers really fucking mean it.
Rigid grooves aplenty and with a robotic rhythmic backbone that feeds perfectly into the track’s use of electronics, ‘The Motor’ arrives timely as an album introduction after two more traditional singles in ‘Clearly A Crisis’ and ‘Fear My Society’. The harder electronic parts of the track mimic the howls and screams of a dying age of technological thought, the overwhelming feeling of information overload and being unable to compute it.
The New York City-based band of Jason Gates, Heather Elle and Madison Velding-VanDam (Madison also plays in BODEGA) have announced the release of their debut album ‘Container’ on March 13th via UK label Council Records. There’s a February date at The Lexington for your calendar too.
