Yuck’s Max Bloom shares heartbreaking new tune ‘Bottle’ ahead of UK tour.
‘Bottle’ is an emotional roller coaster, a feeling trapped in time, a weight upon the chest that won’t shift itself without talking about it. The track is released ahead of a tour in which the Yuck frontman will showcase tracks from his upcoming debut solo LP.
‘Bottle’ follows on from the angular groove of previous single ‘Call Me When It’s Over’ and the piano-led, Beatles-inspired debut ‘To Be Alone’. Each track offers something sonically contrasting, however they are united by an underlying emotional message.
On the track’s lyrical origins Max mentions, “This song is about the moment when my ex-girlfriend and I ended our relationship after eight years. It was just after Christmas, and we met up in a busy bar in Soho. She gave me a bag of Christmas presents from her family. She broke her stoicism for one second to say the words ‘I always thought that we’d be together forever,’ and I completely broke down. Suddenly, for the first time in eight years, I found myself completely alone. I’ve come a long way since then, but the way I felt at that moment will stay with me forever.”
The Yuck man will take to the road in December for a UK tour, starting in Leeds and ending with an intimate homecoming show in London. Tickets for London here.
