Honesty is policy as Glaswegian newcomers Walt Disco unleash a galloping goth rock gem.
Summoning the spirit of Leeds underground heroes The Sisters of Mercy, Glaswegian band Walt Disco thrill on a dark and driving new direction with ‘Dancing Shoes’. The track was recorded with fellow Glaswegian Catholic Action‘s Chris McCrory, and will be released on 7″ vinyl through Sports Team‘s label Holm Front.
A hard-hitting and progressive drum beat opens the band’s new single, guitar lines sparkle and fade as the instrumentation is left to a minimum to complement singer James Potter’s soaring vocal. ‘Dancing Shoes’ signals the band’s intention to ghost into the realms of heavy-hitting 80’s new wave. Emotionally charged and deeply personal throughout, Walt Disco once again wear their heart on their sleeve as James Potter opens up regarding the song’s origins.
“I wrote Dancing Shoes about a year and a half ago,” he says. “It was during a time in my life where I was really struggling to deal with noticing pain and depression within my immediate family and found it difficult to talk about, so I used the writing of this song as therapy. It is very sad but I feel better now it’s written and hope others can take comfort from the song too.”
Walt Disco pull listeners through the veiled darkness of everyday life, one emotionally open, devastatingly euphoric tune at a time.
