Irish underdogs Just Mustard find beauty within the dark corners of grinding industrial rock.
It’s no secret that it’s an exciting time for Irish music, the lightning-paced rise to prominence of FONTAINES D.C and more recently The Murder Capital with Silverbacks and Just Mustard looking set to follow suit.
I can’t help but think that this whole movement of new Irish alternative music has been spearheaded or influenced by at some point, Girl Band. The noise rock outfit from Dublin have announced their return, and judging by their new music, what a return it’s about to be.
‘Seven’, Just Mustard‘s new single, is an electrically-charged rhythmic beast. Taking influence from the mind-bending corners of noise rock whilst still keeping a keen eye on song structure and format, the tight-knit Dundalk quintet find light in the darkness. The contrast of vocalist Katie Ball’s touching and truly hypnotic vocal delivery against a backdrop of grinding industrial sound is a fascinating proposition.
The band embark on a tour of the UK in October including a date at London’s Sebright Arms on October 15th. Not to be missed.
