Brooklyn post-punk trio Pamphlets return on the high-octane ‘Accidental’.

Words: Karl Johnson

Brooklyn outfit Pamphlets are only a few releases in, but have already carved out a driving post-punk sound that occupies the murkier, dark corners of the genre while also bringing about an atmosphere of emotionally-heavy and minimalist storytelling.

New single ‘Accidental’ revels in misunderstanding and crossed wires, “it’s a conversation of guilt, trust/mistrust and mutual misunderstanding,” state the band. Between serrated guitar parts and deep snaking grooves, the urgency of the vocal tears at the seams of legendary atmospheric post-punk acts such as Protomartyr or Gang of Four, bringing a buzzing energy through boundless drumming and an industrial, DIY-influenced sound.
