Brighton-based – via the seaside Yorkshire town of Bridlington – seven-piece KEG are back with a new single entitled ‘Kids’. Arriving alongside the announcement that their new EP ‘Girders’ is chalked for a September 2nd release on Alcopop! Records, ‘Kids’ is comedic rant about not always liking your children (but always loving them).
The band note, “I’ve always had a great relationship with my mum, but there were occasional times where I remember her saying ‘I love you loads, I just don’t like you very much at the moment’. What if your kids grew up the complete opposite of you? What if they like Michael Macintyre and will only eat health foods?”
KEG meld chaos and melody, doubling down on group groove and wrapped up in a seven-piece strut. Spiked guitars whip in and out of the bass lines, the vocal caught beautifully in an echo of trombone and percussion. Whether it’s your child’s taste in comedy or fad fast foods, kids can and will always have the potential to be annoying, just another chip off the old block or a 21st century mini-monster?
