The devastating duo of John Newton and Johnny Healey, aka the indomitable alternative rock force JOHN, are back with new single Šibensko Powerhouse. Featuring backing vocals from Adam Devonshire of IDLES, the merciless new cut builds on the London band’s love of pounding alternative rock, impressively using their minimalist set up to maximalist effect. The track’s wall of guitar noise and atmospheric drum builds flicker in and out of almost psychedelic territory, as lyrically JOHN offer sun-kissed reflections of memories that remind us how small we are as individuals.

“The lyrics came from a now-distant memory of visiting a festival in another country,” offers drummer and lead vocalist Newton. “I remembered standing alone in baking 40 degree heat on the hillside outside of my apartment – only to hear a familiar song echoing live in the distance from over the hill’s crest. It was a once in lifetime moment that just stuck with me, a reminder of my small scale in the greater scheme of the world.”

The track arrives with the news that new album Nocturnal Manoeuvres will arrive October 8th through the band’s own Pets Care imprint and Brace Yourself Records. JOHN embark on a tour of the UK and Ireland this month, ending with a homecoming show at London’s Moth Club on October 22nd.
