Crows return and announce debut record ‘Silver tongues’ via Balley Records, the label of IDLES frontman Joe Talbot.
I ask you to think back (or listen back) to 2015 releases Pray and Crawling, imagine the impact of these two heavy psych-rock juggernauts on unsuspecting ears within sticky-floored venues around the capital. It was about this time Crows would begin to cement themselves as the brand new alternative hope in London, a reputation earned through their raucous live shows. Those that hold the likes of The Black Angels or Brian Jonestown Massacre in high regard, as well as those with a soft spot for heavy riffs, wondered what would become of the hotly-tipped four-piece.
2016’s EP Unwelcome Light only added fuel to the band’s dark-hearted fire, it birthed roller coasters Hang Me High and Unwelcome Light and displayed a devastating sonic maturity. The well-crafted Cold Comfort EP followed in that same year. Fans yearning for a full-length release could be forgiven in playing those EP’s back to back, and perhaps would be satisfied at it’s results as an album that, by then, many craved. Two long years passed with no sign of further material, until the recent release of their kaleidoscopic new single.
Chain of Being is the return Crows have been threatening to make for a while, the London band’s new single hits hard with a relentless psych-rock momentum. The release brings to mind the surging energy of Chichester favourites TRAAMS. The band have built upon the raging sea of noise on which they made their name, but return with a tight-knit intensity to add to their vast and cavernous sound.
Alongside Chain of Being, Crows have announced the release of Silver Tongues, their highly anticipated debut album. It will be released on March 22nd through Balley Records, the label of IDLES frontman Joe Talbot. The London band will support the Bristolian high-flyers on their upcoming tour of the UK in March, and have penned their own headline show for May 2nd at The Dome, Tufnell Park.
Crows are back with a bang, and sound ready to step up to the big league.
