GHUM – ‘I’m The Storm/ Undone’ – Dream-rock quartet channel the dark arts in new single.

GHUM conjure the gothic-pop spirits in their first single, a double A-side release through Everything Sucks Music.

Since the release of their self-titled EP in February of last year, London quartet GHUM have been calmly pricking up the ears of new music fans that hold a special place in their dark hearts for haunting, guitar-driven dream-rock. Airtime with 6music’s Steve Lamacq, support shows with Dream Wife, L.A. Witch and The Underground Youth, alongside an upcoming UK tour in September, and the London quartet look poised to be one of the capital’s most promising underground prospects for 2019.

GHUM’s recent double A-side single I’m The Storm / Undone is released on London label Everything Sucks Music, it sees the band drift deeper into a mystic world of soul-stirring dream-rock.

The tight-knit drumming and interweaving bassline that infiltrates I’m The Storm acts as a sonic headlock to the bands fluid groove, the track’s delicate build emphasises the silk-smooth vocal melody that ghosts over the release, not afraid to show it’s teeth as the track reaches it’s most dizzying, dreamlike state.

Undone leans on the band’s natural, more angular post-punk influences, yet still has GHUM‘s trademark exquisite vocal flowing through it. The track’s tranquil and emotionally collected approach brings out a different side to their game, free and instrumentally explorative, like a tight as hell jam behind closed doors gone good.
