Weird Milk – ‘Better’ – A gorgeous slice of 60’s-inspired pop

West London romantics Weird Milk release ‘Better’ through Camden’s Ra-Ra Rok Records.

The release follows on from last year’s singles This Close and All Night which saw the four-piece express their love for 60’s-inspired harmonies within a nostalgic pop nutshell.

On Better, Weird Milk encapsulate the feeling most people living in Britain understand all too well, the long hard slog of winter replaced in a heartbeat by Spring’s warm glow, and a realisation that things are going to be OK after all. Seemingly inspired by the sprawling cinematic-pop from the likes of The Beach Boys and The Walker Brothers, the band have created a gorgeous piece of sun-bleached pop with intricate harmonies matched by no other at the moment. The strength of the songwriting and playful structure of Better keep things interesting and the build and chorus is a joy to behold.

The west Londoners bottle romance like no other right now, their short, sharp pop gems know no bounds, making this one of the most exciting releases of the year so far. Catch the bands headline show at the Sebright Arms tonight (May 4th) alongside Meal Deals and Cold Fins.
