London four-piece black midi step out from behind the veil with a noise-rock nosebleed.
Black midi have been the name on the slippery lips of new music fans for a little while now, they’ve been honing their craft at shows in south London with little more than a few live videos to their name. Having formed just a year ago, the London four-piece have already shared a stage with some heavyweight names such as Shame, Ought and HMLTD, and have support slots with Omni and Preoccupations in the coming months.
Black midi‘s raw brand of noise rock is encapsulated in this 5 minute debut release, mechanical riffs bounce back off drummer Morgan Simpson’s beat forming an off-kilter groove which impossible to ignore. The band swan dive into a fury of noise before reforming at ease into a relentless groove bound by a purpose to surprise and bewitch their audience. Their debut is brought to a close by a swell of frantic experimental instrumentation as frontman Geordie Greep’s lyrics boil over into a incomprehensible disgust, and the track once again regains composure harnessed by it’s rhythmic core. The band’s debut release was always going to be a heart attack waiting to happen.
Bmbmbm was recorded in a matter of hours by Dan Carey at his Speedy Wunderground studio in Streatham, and will be released June 8th as a 7″ vinyl limited to a run of 250.
