Pizzagirl – ‘Favourite Song’ – Rose tinted electro-pop debut from Merseyside

Bringing 2018 in with a slice of surprisingly anthemic bedroom electro-pop is Liverpool’s PizzagirlThe debut single from Pizzagirl, aka Aintree’s Liam Brown is named Favourite Song and brings back memories of the lo-fi homemade electronic-pop of Australian’s Cut Copy. The track is released today (11/01) via Manchester indie label Heist or Hit and harks back to an introspective brand of driving 80’s synth-pop.

Pizzagirl explain about the release, “‘Favourite Song’ is my attempt at making a tune that would fit nicely in a Miami Vice/Blade Runner soundtrack“.

Pizzagirl‘s sound doesn’t latch onto the musical heritage which stands Liverpool as one of the greatest producers of new wave, psych rock or rock ‘n’ roll over the years, instead it owes more to the gloom-pop represented on the east coast of the US, brought to the forefront of pop in recent years by New York based duo MS MR and suchlike.

Pizzagirl landed in the capital on November 15th last year for a sold out show in east London in support of labelmates and fellow Liverpudlians Her’s. With no upcoming live dates to mention, it’s certainly just a matter of time before Pizzagirl heads down to the capital for a much hyped show of his own.
