It’s the first hot take from the Brighton duo’s sophomore EP ‘Better Men’ due this summer.

What would you do for love? This is the question posed by Brighton duo Speedboat on their latest single ‘Sadie Grey’. The new single burrows itself into your subconscious, driving bass lines and cantering drums bring an eerie underlying feeling of darkness to the verses, with the chorus seemingly reflecting the euphoria of lovers being reunited. The subtle hooks are never too far away either, buoyant synth patterns and brotherly harmonies fuse the light and dark emotions as the song pushes further and further forward.
Speedboat offer that ‘Sadie Grey’ is an abstracted retelling of Johnny’s experience attempting to reunite with his girlfriend in France. “After jumping through endless bureaucratic, post-brexit-bullshit hoops; it’s difficult not to feel criminalised when crossing borders these days, even when you’re only crossing for love.”
The duo’s sophomore EP ‘Better Men’ will be released on June 24th through Moshi Moshi Records. Alongside various festival dates, Speedboat headline East London haunt Paper Dress Vintage on May 25th.
