SCUD FM are back with their single Bigger Boat via label Dash The Henge, the track forms the next step of the new label’s journey to create a multimedia home for, “counter cultural musicians and artists to provide a platform for expression whilst bringing their work to a larger unified audience”.

Our eyes were first opened to SCUD’s newest release with the track’s accompanying video back in October. The video sets sail on the SL9, full of simple yet effective choreography, sailor cosplay, slight vertigo and a “Lee Scratch Perry Scaffolding” sign (RIP to a king). The song itself combines the worlds of the danceable and delirious, compact with sharp and sarcastic lyricism courtesy of lead singer Zsa Zsa Sapien. We’re picking up on sly themes of morbidity, panic and political distress (TBC), yet the music offsets this with its catchy mix of charming guitar, marching drums and the wholly underrated wood block scrape.

SCUD play songs about Electronic Components, House Cleaning, the 2nd ‘Ndrangheta War, Boats, Meatraffles, Allergies, Tactical Ballistic Nuclear Missiles plus serious subjects like Trade Unionism and Women’s Rights. Initially recorded 5 years ago at the Fat White Family’s ChampZone studio in Sheffield by producer and FWF member, Nathan Saoudi, the record was completed in lockdown and features an all-star cast from the South London scene.”

Featuring sonic treats from Meatraffle, Pregoblin, MADE, Sonic Eyes, Superstation Twatville, Fat White Family and Sweat, SCUD FM’s debut album INNIT will be released in January 2022.
