The Glasgow glam-punk band keep bringing the hits on jagged new dance cut.

With one foot on the dancefloor worshipping the disco ball, and one foot in the sticky-floored world of post-punk, Walt Disco find their groove on new single ‘Cut Your Hair’. A professional trim is a meditative activity out of reach for many in our current state of lockdown, it’s the small things that you never appreciated hey. Although James Power’s true intention for the track’s title is explained by the singer himself below.
The ‘young, hard and handsome’ six-piece are gearing up for the release of their debut EP in 2020, having been tipped by pretty much everyone under sun. Whilst being inspired by the modern pop sensibilities of queer artists such as St Vincent and Charli XCX on the band’s dance-led new single, flashes of Talking Heads and the raw energy of having paid their dues at sweaty grassroots venues around the UK remains.
Speaking of the track singler James Power says, “‘Cut Your Hair’ was written as a wee fun jibe at people passing judgement to those who are just being themselves. I think older generations can learn a lot from us YOUNG HARD AND HANDSOME folk. I mean our generation are the most tolerant and accepting, ever, and we should all aspire to live in a world where self expression and free speech is championed.”
Walt Disco worked with producer Thomas McNeice of Gang of Four on ‘Cut Your Hair’, a combination which doubles down on the band’s groove and momentum whilst allowing their more experimental angles to be housed in a sweet 2:20 minutes of funk-addled glam-punk??? I suppose that’s the point, the Glaswegians aren’t willing to be pigeonholed as their spree of top-notch releases continues.
