The Great Escape has officially launched its 2026 edition with the announcement of the ‘First Fifty’ artists on the bill. This in itself has become a coveted spot in recent years, setting the tone for the festival and marking its announcement with a series of shows across London in something of a miniature version of the full Brighton festival. This year’s First Fifty shows will take place on 13th November.

It is great to see The Geroge Tavern added to the lineup of venues this time around in recognition of its importance as one of the capital’s most vital grassroots venues right now. They host precociously talented bedroom indie artist Sean Trelford, with support from Glasgow’s Tanzana and Toronto artist Clothesline from Hell.

Elsewhere on the bill, the Sebright Arms stage synth-punk duo The Itch, who packed out a midnight show at Rossi Bar as part of the Alt Escape last year. They are joined by Really Good Time and the brilliant queer punk of SLAG. Girl Group headline at MOTH Club, while Paper Dress Vintage host a more pop-tinged night featuring Persia Holder, Elsa and Tottenham newcomer Tukki. We’re also excited to see Kentucky duo Girl Tones, who appear at The Victoria alongside Saint Clair and Ain’t.

The Great Escape is the UK’s defining festival for new artists on the cusp of breaking out. Tickets are live now for the festival proper, running 13th-16th May, as well as the First Fifty events, which run simultaneously on Thursday 13th November. They are available with full info on all acts announced so far over at greatescapefestival.com.
