ladylike’s Green Man Festival Photo Diary.

The Brighton band take us through their weekend, centring around their festival debut on the Rising stage.

ladylike caught our attention with their debut single ‘Southbound’ last year, which struck us with its compelling lyrics combined with a weirdness and intricacy comparable to that of English Teacher. Their latest single ‘Horse’s Mouth’ kept us excited, drawling, winding and emotive while feeling genuinely original.

Having made it to Green Man as finalists of their Rising competition, the Brighton band were sure to pack a punch on the live front at this their debut festival, and they did not disappoint. The band sent us a diary of their time at the festival.

Thursday

10am Set off on the road. Had a little service station toilet pit stop for a pic of the new shoes.

3pm Arrived and had a walk around the grounds before our Green Man video session, which (to start this off poorly, we forgot to document, because we left the camera in the car).

5pm After the video session, we set up camp and a bunch of friends arrived so we indulged in a bit of circle time. See pic of circle time with some of the gang. Smiles all round.

Then we headed back to the site, got some food and watched a pretty epic performance from 3 miming cowgirls, which really set the festival off to a cracking start.

Friday

9am Got up and got the mocha pot going. Slurped up some caffeine and made use of the flushable toilets & working showers that artist camping had to offer! What a life.

**12:30pm** Caught The Orchestra for now rip up the main stage.

**2pm** Spence taking a pit stop, there were a few of those, in recovery from a nasty flu that struck the poor man down just before we headed off on our travels.

**3:15pm** The Lime Garden legends shredding to a huge crowd in the Far Out tent.

**6pm** Pizza and croc. A classic combo for a quick bite on the grass.

**6:45pm** A bit of Personal Trainer to keep spirits high. Which Georgia did very much enjoy, despite her face maybe saying otherwise.

**9pm** Back to the tent for a few beers before Mount Kimbie (and then we may have forgotten to document anything after that).

Saturday

**8am** James is up and feeling fresh. Ready to rock. Ready to roll.

**9am** Trolley loaded with our gear and headed to drop it off at the Rising Stage, ahead of our set today. The trolley started off as a great idea, though as the journey evolved, we learnt that down hill was a group challenge.

**10:30am** Gear loaded in, checking out the stage and Archie plucked up the courage to ask a (very friendly) stranger for a picture.

12pm Getting ready to rock…

A real dressing room with a whole load of room for activities…

**12:45pm** We hit up the Rising Stage. Was pretty special to be playing with that backdrop. Someone said our set was like ‘paracetamol’ for their Friday night hangover, which we were pretty chuffed with.

**2pm** A buggy ride back to camp, which was a much better method than the trolley (except we had to leave Archie walking behind us…)

The afternoon consisted of a few interviews, plenty of snacking, a sit down to Tapir!, rocking out to Wednesday and then catching a bit Tinariwen (wish we caught the whole set)…

11pm Went to catch Ugly on the Rising Stage and then headed straight for the Big Thief (except no.1 Osees fan Archie!). Big Thief was as beautiful as expected. Osees was as sweaty as expected and a man kindly whispered in Archie’s ear that he had magical hair (so all the time spent combing was well spent).

Sunday was Archie’s birthday but Spence and Georgia had to shoot off (and selfishly took the camera with them) so the big day wasn’t documented but here’s a few highlights from the birthday boy: Mari Mathias in front of the rolling hills, an intense game of cards, a snooze in the afternoon sun, Ezra Collective on the big stage, Explosions in The Sky over at Far Out, closing the weekend off with the burning of the Green Man.
