‘Brighter Days’ slowly reveals itself with a serene stillness upon a layer of raining static.

Lando Manning has turned loose his final taster from his forthcoming EP, the title single ‘Better Days’. His the latest collection of songs comes via Mango Wax Records, a label Manning founded with Tim Harper, co-owner of Camberwell’s new staple record shop, Dash The Henge.
‘Brighter Days’ slowly reveals itself with a serene slowness, which drifts over a layer of rain noise that creates a static sound as it pours like a storm on the ocean sea. It has a gloomy feeling, owing to the simplicity and droning of the guitar with moments of optimism shining through Manning’s mostly melancholy vocals. Immersive and thought-provoking, it invites at once nostalgic memories and painful feelings with its aching, sparkling guitars. The softness of this fingerpicked guitar and Manning’s lullaby singing is nurturing, almost cleansing, riding over you like waves down on a sandy shore that motion back and forth and gradually bring in the tide.
Carving his own niche in South London’s ever-growing folk music scene, Manning’s artistic growth is exciting to watch. We’ll be looking to catch him launch his new EP next month (15th Feb) at Avalon Café, where he plays alongside Route 500 and Eva Lunny.
