The London duo bring a dose of honesty to their familiar brand of country-tinged indie rock.

Emotions permeate and fluctuate throughout ‘Different Eyes’, the latest single from London duo Nudista. More direct than previous releases, it is a tale of loneliness and introspection. With lyrics acting as a conversation with himself, Robbie Carman leads with a lament of failures and an inability to grasp new perspectives and let go of the past.
Pilar Matji Cabello takes over on the second verse, acting as the voice inside Carman’s head, before the two combine for the chorus. It is all surprisingly honest, no hiding behind metaphor here. The pair’s country leanings aren’t lost either, with slide guitar a constant presence throughout as crunching guitars drive the track as they weave in and out.
The bang give a good deal of heft to the song, lyrically and musically, but not one that feels overbearing in any way. If anything, there’s a weird sense of community to be found in the relateability of the song’s sadness and introspection, especially given the dual vocal. Sometimes, it’s just nice to be reminded of that universality of feeling.
