New single ‘Get Back Jamie’ is a witty psych-funk diatribe taken from the upcoming album ‘Crisps’.

Hitting the airwaves via Breakfast Records, ‘Get Back Jamie’ is Get Down Services’ confrontation of a notable figure from the culinary world: Jamie Oliver. One of Britain’s defining celebrity chefs, he has had his polarising moments. The man is hated by kids for his crusade against unhealthy school meals, and by chefs for being a snake oil peddling hack. That said, he is a hero of calorie-conscious yummy mummies trying to get a “healthy” meal on the table in under half an hour.
Known for their sharp-witted humour established on previous hits like ‘Biscuit Tin’ and ‘Cream Of The Crop’, Getdown Services now deliver an playfully biting diatribe wrapped in a lounging slice of psych-funk. It takes a more personal approach as the duo channel their slacker fury towards Jamie Oliver.
In his commentary, Josh Law, one half of the duo, expresses his frustration with a hypocrisy behind Jamie Oliver’s reputation for helping ordinary people build quick and healthy meals.
“I was thinking about this once when I was watching Jamie’s 15 Minute meals.”, Law explains. “The angle of the show is that no one has any time or money to prepare nice food anymore and for some reason millionaire campervan twat Jamie Oliver is going to help us with that.”
The song addresses this situation, casting Oliver as a ridiculous figure. Indeed, perhaps there should be more scrutiny of a man who can’t keep a pizza restaurant open in a world obsessed with pizza who still has the gumption to talk down to those taking shortcuts to get food in their mouths.
‘Get Down Jamie’ has already been a staple in Getdown Services’ live performances and its inclusion in the forthcoming album demonstrates the group’s ability to channel diverse influences in songwriting and production. It sets the tone for what promises to be a compelling debut, capturing the group’s musical curiosity and sardonic sense of humour.
